Operation Ventura commences in Palmerston
The Northern Territory Police Force commenced Operation Ventura in Palmerston on 18 May 2026 as part of a coordinated, intelligence-led response focused on improving community safety, reducing anti-social behaviour and increasing visible reassurance throughout the Palmerston region.
The operation supports the Northern Territory Government’s broader community safety objectives through proactive policing, targeted enforcement and strong multi-agency partnerships.
Operation Ventura will run over 2-months and involves high-visibility patrols, proactive enforcement activities, wanding operations, traffic enforcement and coordinated engagement with vulnerable persons.
The operation brings together NT Police, partner agencies and community stakeholders to target identified hotspot locations and address the drivers of alcohol-related harm, public disorder and recidivist offending, while maintaining a balanced approach focused on both enforcement and harm minimisation.
On the first day, police moved on 75 individuals, issued 6 banned drinker orders, seized and disposed of 61 litres of alcohol and confiscated a weapon. Five arrests were made for offences including serious harm, breaches of court orders and criminal damage.
Enforcement and engagement activities will continue across Palmerston for the duration of the operation.
Members of the public are encouraged to report domestic violence or unlawful behaviour to police by calling 131 444, or anonymously to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
