Bullying

Supporting your child, family member or a friend who is being bullied is important.

Stand by them, show solidarity, and remind them that they are not alone. You can support them by:

  • listening and letting them express their feelings and experiences without interruption or judgement
  • offering emotional support, reassurance and encouragement
  • encouraging them to talk with trusted adults who can help address the situation
  • assisting them to seek support from a mental health professional if needed
  • helping to create coping strategies
  • helping to build up their self-confidence and self-esteem
  • encouraging them to engage in activities they enjoy and excel in
  • creating a positive and supportive home environment where they feel safe and valued
  • being a positive role model and showing your family member it's unacceptable behaviour.
