About us

The Territory Community Safety Coordination Centre (TCSCC) started operations on 1 July 2023.

It has developed a broad support model to address public safety across the NT. It incorporates:

  • leadership
  • policy development
  • community engagement
  • coordination across operational patroller networks
  • engagement with outreach services.

The NT Police led TCSCC is overseen by an Assistant Commissioner and Director. It includes localised regional management for Greater Darwin and Southern regions.

Government funded services across research, lighting and private security supports the community safety campaign.

Our team

The TCSCC team covers roles in:

  • data analysis and information
  • communication across government and to the community
  • informs policy development on issues relating to anti-social behaviour and related offending
  • evaluation of services and programs targeting anti-social behaviour
  • supported by agency liaison officers from the departments of:
    • Education
    • Territory Families, Housing and Communities.

The operational arm of the TCSCC is the Territory Safety Division (TSD), who are located in Darwin and Alice Springs.

Our key focus

TCSCC focusses on:

  • working to ensure public places are available to everybody and free and from anti-social behaviour
  • addressing community expectations
  • reframing the current negative narrative around community safety and
  • building community resilience.

It aims to strengthen integration across the various daily patroller coordination meetings, by sharing information between key partners including:

  • night patrol services
  • private security
  • local council rangers
  • liquor licensing
  • youth and community outreach
  • Transit Safety Officers
  • Public Housing Safety Officers.

TCSCC works to ensure patrols and agency participation is coordinated. Working together to provide coordinated government and non-government organisations (NGO) service delivery across:

  • hot spots
  • identified emerging issues and
  • specific community issues.

What we do

Strategy, reporting and initiativesWe oversee community safety initiatives across the major urban centres, and coordinate patroller networks to provide holistic service delivery.

Using information and data to support NT and federal government strategies and initiatives such as the Northern Territory Knife Crime Reduction Strategy 2023 and key programs such as Summer in Central Australian and Strengthening Community Safety.
Social orderWe coordinate social order operations aimed at reducing anti-social behaviour, alcohol-related offending, ensuring our public spaces are safe to use by all Territorians.
Link and coordinateWe link and coordinate support services across:
  • health
  • education
  • youth support
  • housing and
  • Crown Lands.
Ensuring greater wrap around services are available for people at risk of harm.
Mapping service provisionsWe map service provisions and building toolkits for increased awareness and information sharing.
CampaignsSupport and coordinate campaigns covering many topics including Triple Zero awareness, knife crime reduction, Crime Stoppers and more.
