The Northern Territory Police are working in collaboration with government and non-government organisations to strengthen information sharing through daily patroller coordination meetings.
The Territory Community Safety Coordination Centre (TCSCC) was established in June 2023 and is made up of representatives from NT Police, Department of Education (DoE), Territory Families, Housing and Communities (TFHC), Department of Health (DoH) and Department of Infrastructure, Planning and Logistics (DIPL).
The team work together on a daily basis to assist in the coordination of efforts across all frontline service providers to ensure support and attention is provided where and when it is needed.
The teams consist of Public Housing Safety Officers (PHSO), Youth Engagement Outreach and Re-Engagement Team (YORET), Public Order Response Unit (PORU), contracted private security, police officers from the Territory Safety Division and Palmerston Social Order and when required Licencing Inspectors and Town Council Rangers.
The joint operations highlight the strength of our partnerships and shared goals of preventing and addressing anti-social behaviour in our community.
Assistant Commissioner Janelle Tonkin said, "Our coordinated approach ensures that we can effectively address the root causes of anti-social behaviour and provide long term solutions for our community."
"It's not one service, organisation, government department or member of the community that can create change. It takes all of us working together, helping each other to work on solutions to help our community stay safe."
"TCSCC works to ensure patrols and agency participation is coordinated."
"By working collaboratively, we aim to create a safer environment where Territorians feel safe in their neighbourhoods and can go about their daily activities without fear of disruption."
