A Territory company has been awarded a contract to build 8 homes across Darwin's northern suburbs, in the first tranche of urban housing investment.
C&R Constructions will build 1 and 2-bedroom homes in Tiwi, Wanguri, and Rapid Creek, with the contract inclusive of civil and ancillary works.
The Commonwealth Government-funded Social Housing Accelerator Payment (SHAP) project will yield up to 100 new homes over the next 5 years across Greater Darwin, Katherine, Tennant Creek, and Alice Springs.
A key focus of the program is community wellbeing, so new homes will be built to suit local climates and enhance comfort and sustainability for tenants.
It's a part of the Commonwealth Government investment to increase social housing stock across Australia.
